I honestly believe that what you’re advocating is the best way to approach first dates. It’s really the fact that it’s so formal that people dislike it. Simply having a casual, ‘walking around checking out stores’ date is a great way to have a fun time.

Not to mention, walking around makes you hungry… and you can take it from there!

This is one of the reasons why I hate first dates. Way too formal and cliche.

The date doesnt even sound interesting … so why would the guy?

Some of the dates that you suggested are low key, fun and interesting and women would feel much more comfortable going on them, then on a boring ass dinner date.
